Wellington County Takes Top Spot in Safety Survey

MarketSquareFollowing up its repeat as Statistics Canada’s Safest City, Guelph and Wellington County has been named Maclean’s Magazine’s Safest Community in Canada. It overtook 4-time defending titleholders, Caledon in 6 key areas: homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault, robbery, breaking and entering and auto theft.

This award is certainly something for Guelph and surrounding area to take pride in. The all-encompassing survey looked at an array of serious crimes, wherein Wellington County scored better than the rest of Canada in agglomeration.

This furthers Wellington County’s reputation as a great place to raise a family or retire in comfort. The downtown is budding and features a host of engaging activities that promote community engagement and inclusion. The revitalization has generated interest from those of all ages and helps to grow the community atmosphere required to maintain such strong crime numbers. Guelph boasts strong subdivisions and a great housing mix which also helps to eliminate community conflict.

Anyone who lives in Guelph can already attest to what a comfortable atmosphere it boasts, but for those considering a move to Wellington County, this survey joins a long list of factors pointing to the area as a great place to settle in.
