If you’ve never been to Guelph, there’s a good chance you might not have heard of the Guelph Royals. However, anyone with ties to the city knows how special this local baseball franchise is. A part of the Royal City since 1861, the Royals are an Intercounty Baseball League team which plays its home games at David E. Hastings Stadium, just outside of Downtown Guelph at Exhibition Park. One of the IBL’s most storied franchises, the Royals joined the league at its inception in 1919 and have won 9 league championships (including the first 3), placing them 3rd all-time. In fact, prior to joining the IBL, they were World Semi-Pro Champions in 1874 and played against National League baseball teams later in the 1870’s.

Today, they are one of the many attractions featured in Downtown Guelph. They play two to three home games per week and provide great value family entertainment for young and old. They’ve set their playoff ticket prices, with adult tickets just $10! It makes a Royals game not only an enjoyable, but also affordable way to enjoy the great sport of baseball in our own backyard.

The team is gearing up for a deep playoff run. They currently lead their best-of-seven playoff series 2-0 over Ottawa, and play their next home game Tuesday, August 7th (if necessary).
